Dr. Manuel Ruiz, Jr, a Board-Certified General Surgeon will be coming to Haughton and Minden.
After completing his military service as a member of the United States Marine Corps, in the role of Team Leader for the STA Platoon, 1st Battalion 23rd Marines in Houston, Texas he received a Bachelor of Administration from University of North Texas in Denton, Tx.
Dr. Ruiz then went to pursue his Medical Degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock, TX, and went on to be a General Surgery Intern at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, in El Paso, Tx. He completed General Surgery Residency at Berkshire Medical Center, Campus of University of Massachusetts School of Medicine in Pittsfield, MA and Chief Resident in General Surgery at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA. Dr. Ruiz also received training through Intuitive Robotics for multiport colon and hernia procedures on the DaVinci System.
As a surgeon Dr. Manuel Ruiz has done a variety of general surgery procedures using open, laparoscopic, and robotic methods. They include simple and complex hernias, colon surgery for neoplasm or benign conditions, rectal and anal disease, treating breast disease, treating gallbladder disease, dialysis access procedures and port placement, colonoscopy, endoscopic feeding tube placements, trauma coverage and surgery, lower extremity amputation, vascular access and wound care.
Prior to coming to Minden he worked in Terre Haute, Indiana for the past 5 years. Dr. Ruiz will see patients at Minden Medical Clinic of Haughton, 170 Healthcare Plaza Drive, Haughton, LA. He will also see patients one day a week in Minden at Surgery and Endo Associates at 812 Broadway Street, Minden.
Dr. Ruiz grew up in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Ruiz enjoys cooking and traveling with the family. He and his family reside in Bossier splitting the work drive between he and his wife. They have three (3) children and keep very busy with family and work.
