2021 George E. French III Scholarship Recipient Named

Congratulations to Melinda Boyce, recipient of the 2021 George E. French III Scholarship. Melinda was presented with her scholarship award at Minden Medical Center by Mr. George French, CEO of MMC from 1982 until 2016, and Mr. Jim Williams, current CEO of MMC.

Melinda is a 2021 graduate of Minden High School, and graduated in the top 20 students of her class. Melinda was a varsity soccer player all four years, took honor classes in high school and was a member of the National Honor Society. She is also active in her church, North Acres Baptist Church, where she teaches Children’s Church, is a camp counselor and member of the Youth Group, and also leads music for Vacation Bible School. Melinda also participated in AHEC (Area Health Education Centers) at Minden Medical Center. She loves to help people and knew she wanted to be a nurse, and through her AHEC experience discovered she wanted to be a neonatal RN. She will being her journey to becoming a nurse in the fall at Northwestern State University, where she will study to get her BSN and specialize in Neonatology.

About the George E. French III Scholarship Fund:

George French III served as the Chief Executive Officer of Minden Medical Center from 1982 until his retirement in 2016. George is a servant leader for all those around him, both at work and in the community. He is a humble leader, who defers accolades to his team and seeks to lift others up.

One of George’s passions is the pursuit of lifelong learning, both for himself and those around him. George is an encourager and champion of looking beyond oneself in order to make a difference with others. He has impacted countless lives as he‘s helped others to achieve their dreams. His leadership and guidance has been invaluable at Minden medical and the people in and around Minden, Louisiana.

To honor George’s service to Minden Medical Center, the community and George’s pursuit of learning a scholarship has been established in his name to provide financial assistance to a graduating high school senior, who is a resident of Webster Parish, Louisiana who is pursuing a career as a registered nurse.
