MMC Not In Network with Aetna Medicaid
February 3, 2015Minden, Louisiana, February 2015. – As of February 1, 2015 the Bayou Health Medicaid Program was split into five statewide plans. Minden Medical Center has contracted with four of the five plans: Amerigroup of Louisiana, Amerihealth Caritas of Louisiana, Louisiana Healthcare Connections and United Community Care.
However, Minden Medical Center has not reached an agreement with Aetna Better Health of Louisiana. This means that if those insured with Aetna (Medicaid) seek medical care at Minden Medical Center, their insurance will not cover the cost of the treatment received and there will be a higher out of pocket expense. This does not affect those insured with Aetna Commercial in any way.
As always, in an emergent situation, Minden Medical Center will treat all patients whether they are insured or not.
In order to prevent future out of pocket expenses, Minden Medical Center encourages our community to choose a health insurance plan that is in contract with the hospital. To find a list of contracted insurance providers, please call (318) 382-8274 or (318) 382-8169 or visit www.mindenmedicalcenter.com.
If those insured would like to change plans, they can do so in the first 90 days from the date listed on the confirmation letter from Bayou Health. To change Plans during the first 90 days simply call Bayou Health, 1-855-BAYOU-4U (1-855-229-6848), and let them know you would like to change Health Plans. They can also change Plans online by visiting bayouhealth.com and click on Making Changes.
After the first 90 days, those insured can only change Plans for certain reasons, such as if they move, if their Plan changes services that they need, or if they cannot get certain care that they need.
After one year, those insured will have a 60-day time period in which they can change Plans. This time period is called open enrollment.
