Minden Medical Center Announces New CEO
November 8, 2016
Minden, La. – November 8, 2016 – Minden Medical Center (MMC) announced today that Greg Pearson has been named chief executive officer (CEO), effective December 5. Pearson replaces Steve Selzer, who has served as the hospital’s interim leader since long-time CEO George French retired earlier this year.
“Greg is a dynamic leader and strong hospital operator, and I am excited to welcome him to Minden and the LifePoint family,” said Brad Owens, chief operating officer (COO) of LifePoint Health’s Western Group, of which MMC is a part. “He has the right training, experience and personality to help Minden Medical Center stay focused on delivering high-quality, compassionate care, and I know he will do an excellent job of leading this hospital into the future.”
Pearson most recently served as CEO of Merit Health River Region, a 361-bed acute care facility in Vicksburg, Miss. During his time there, Pearson successfully integrated six hospitals into a regional hospital network that supports population health initiatives; drove significant growth through the recruitment of specialty physicians; helped cultivate strong relationships with providers across the region; and developed strategic partnerships with neighboring hospitals to bring more advanced care to the area. He also led numerous capital improvement projects, improved overall employee satisfaction through the implementation of the Studer principles and executive rounding, and helped increase quality metrics and patient satisfaction scores.
“We were searching for a compassionate, service-minded and forward-thinking leader who would not only continue the great work happening at Minden, but also help take our hospital to the next level,” said Sherb Sentell III, chairman of MMC’s board of directors. “We found all of that and more in Greg, and we are eager to welcome him to the area and introduce him and his family to our community.”
Prior to his role as CEO of Merit Health, Pearson served in several hospital leadership positions, including COO of Merit Health; chief financial officer (CFO) of St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston, Texas; CFO of Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Ala.; system CFO of Brooksville Regional Hospital and Spring Hill Regional Hospital in Brooksville, Fla; and CFO of Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
Pearson earned a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in science, both from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La. Pearson is a strong supporter of community involvement and has held numerous civic leadership positions throughout his career.
“Minden Medical Center is clearly a vital part of this wonderful community,” said Pearson. “I have been so impressed with the quality care and genuine compassion I’ve witnessed during my visits, and I am eager to join the talented team at MMC as we work to further enhance the delivery of high-quality care close to home.”
