MMC Announces 2017 Mercy Award Winner

May 16, 2017

Minden, Louisiana, May 2017. – Minden Medical Center recently announced that Mandi Hart, RN, BSN, CBC, Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Nurse Manager has been recognized as the hospital’s 2017 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.

“At Minden Medical Center, we share LifePoint’s commitment to Making Communities Healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” said Greg Pearson, CEO of Minden Medical Center. “We are extremely proud to recognize Mandi for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”

“Mandi certainly exemplifies all these attributes.  Not only is she deeply committed to the success of Minden Medical Center, but also is a very active and positive member of our community,” said Pearson.  “She is involved in her church and many local civic organizations that give back to our community. She is often referred to as the “Patch Adams” of Minden Medical Center as she has a contagious smile, laughter and spirit.”

Mandi has been instrumental in bringing Minden Medical Center through the painstaking process of becoming a “Baby Friendly” facility.  Once MMC achieves this highly recognized designation, they will be the only hospital in North Louisiana with this distinction.

In 2016 Mandi became the Inpatient HCAHPS champion where she leads MMC on a journey to go above and beyond in order to improve patient satisfaction.

Mandi is a dedicated wife, mother, servant in her community and a loyal, dedicated and compassionate employee at Minden Medical Center for six years. Mandi and her husband Donny are the parents of 6 year old triplets, Maddox, Mason and Harley and recently opened their home to two foster children. There is no doubt that Mandi has left a life-long impression on these two beautiful girls.

For several years, Mandi has been a member of the Junior Service League in Minden and now serves on the Board.  She is actively involved in Camp Quality of Louisiana as a volunteer, board member and Activities Coordinator and spends time volunteering for the Pregnancy Crisis Center. She is a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Angel Award finalist and a World Service Corps volunteer for which she travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal on a medical mission and to teach Bible Study and coordinate Women’s Health Fairs throughout the villages.

Each hospital winner, including Mandi, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2017 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August, to which Mandi and all hospital winners are invited to attend.

Mandi, thank you for being an extraordinary role model and inspiration to all who know you!
